An exciting New Town Centre

The proposed Coomera Town Centre, covering 60 hectares will be larger than many major city shopping centres.

With 1000,000 square metres of retail space, it will have more shops than the Gold Coast’s Pacific Fair. In addition it will accommodate commercial and government facilities, schools, and public amenities as well as residential buildings.

It will have a major transport interchange, and an entertainment precinct linking it to Dreamworld Theme Park.

A tri-level education precinct is proposed including a TAFE and possibly the Gold Coast’s third university. All will share facilities such as information technology, libraries, ovals and gymnasiums.

The community centre will house a public library, private hospital, and 50-metre swimming pool.

An integrated network of parkland will service the entire town providing environmental, aesthetic and recreational functions. An eco hotel is on the drawing boards.

Another $2.36 billion worth of new investment is now underway across 13 projects within a 10-kilometre radius of Coomera.

Walkability and liveability will be a major focus of the new Coomera – and for Nautical Edge. Devine aims to be an important contributor to the fantastic lifestyle it offers.

Local shopping facilities are already abundant – Coomera Central, Oxenford Centre, Hope Island Shopping Centre, Sanctuary Fair, Australia Fair at Southport and Pacific Fair at Broadbeach.

Coupled with the proposed billion-dollar town centre, these provide Nautical Edge residents with a superb range of amenities.

Coomera railway station is five minutes away from Nautical Edge, offering easy access to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The eight lane M1 Motorway is also nearby, so a Gold Coast visit is about 20 minutes south, and Brisbane about 40 minutes north.

The State Government proposes to spend $182 million over the next four years upgrading public transport infrastructure including a second rail track between Ormeau and Coomera train stations.

Fishing, boating and other aquatic pursuits are available at the Gold Coast Broadwater and Moreton Bay, which can be accessed by the meandering Coomera River.

International attractions are nearby - Dreamworld, Wet ‘n Wild and Warner Bros Movie World. So, too, are world-class golf courses such as Gainsborough Greens, The Palms, and Hope Island. The area has a diversity of local sporting grounds.

Business and work

If you are lucky enough to love boats and make a living from them, the huge Gold Coast Marine Park is nearby. Economic forecasters predict an extra 1,500 future jobs in this zone alone.

Other major business developments include CUB Brewery at Yatala, recently expanded at a cost of $170 million, the $40 million Access Business Park (51 industrial lots), Security Concepts Ltd Manufacturing Plant ($18 million) and the Aldi Supermarket distribution centre ($30 million).

Planners say further tourism opportunities, the environmental industries and film making at Warner Roadshow Studios are all potential employers.

Famous for its sun, surf and sand, Gold Coast City stretches along 57 kilometres of coastline and offers diverse and colourful attractions.

The local council says it has a permanent population of about half a million, and is Australia’s most famous holiday destination, attracting four million tourists a year.

Some 10 million overnight and daytrip visitors are recorded each year.

In addition to its natural assets, the Gold Coast now hosts many national and international events from lawn bowls to horse racing, boating, formula 1 motor sports and triathlons.

It has been one of the fastest growing regions in Australia for more than four decades and is now the sixth largest city in the country.
